Annual Chaldean Day
Festival at Cuyamaca College
The Annual Chaldean Day Festival at Cuyamaca College on
October 9th, 2007 was quite a success! The event
was hosted by the Student Affairs Office and the associated
students of Cuyamaca College, with the cooperation of Dr.
Sami Jihad.
The purpose of the occasion was to reflect on the rich
traditions, customs, and practices of the Chaldeans. The
event was attended by His Excellency, Bishop Sarhad Yawsip
Jammo and Father Michael Bazzi of St. Peter Chaldean
Catholic Church, and Father Emad Al-Sheikh of the Syriac
Catholic Church. Also in attendance were the President and
Vice President of Cuyamaca College and many other staff and
faculty that were available during the time of the
festival.
The delicious food was catered by the owner of Ali Baba
Restaurant, Othman Yousif. Moreover, the energetic sound of
Chaldean music was played throughout the festival. And in
addition to the music, many students performed their famous
native Chaldean dance. On a final note, the event was
extremely successful and it won the admiration and
appreciation of all those who attended.
