On Saturday 26
January, St. Paul Assyrian-Chaldean Catholic Church of the East
had a gathering of all those volunteers that worked through out
the last year in various committees of the Church. This annual
event coincides with the Day of St. Stephan (Acts 6: 5-15), the
Martyred Deacon. The highlight of the evening was the presence
of His Grace Bishop Mar Bawai Soro’s Los Angeles Support
Committee. Prior to the event, there was a small meeting between
this committee and its counterpart in St. Paul in a small hall
for preparing a smooth transition of Assyrian Catholic Apostolic
Diocese members in Los Angeles area into the church. Fr. Noel
Gorgis, parish priest, presided over the meeting and after a
brief introduction opened the discussion by answering the
questions from ACAD committee members. The questions ranging
from the administrative structure of St. Paul church to the
relationship with Roman Catholic Church were asked and
respectively answered by Fr. Noel. After this meeting the ACAD
committee joined the members of all activity groups of St. Paul
in the big hall. After a blessing and enjoying a nice dinner,
Fr. Noel in his speech did welcome the ACAD committee members
and introduced them to the people present in the hall. He then
continued with praising all various committee members of St.
Paul Church for their work through out the last year and noted
the challenges ahead in year 2008, which requires everyone’s
effort in facing them. He also asked for the participation of
ACAD members to come in and work hand in hand with their sisters
and brothers in St. Paul Church. In the end there was the
opportunity for all groups to take a picture with
Fr. Noel and Fr.
Tomy.
