Visit
of Mar Sarhad Yawsip Jammo
to North California

On Saturday
April 5th our bishop His Grace
Mar Sarhad Yawsip Jammo made a
special visit to North
California.
On his first
stop in Turlock, he gave
a detailed and remarkable
educational lecture to a
large group of deacons of St.
Thomas Assyrian Chaldean Church
in Turlock, St. Matthew Parish (ACAD-Ceres),
St. Mary Assyrian Chaldean
Church of
San Jose and the ACAD's San
Jose Parish.
The lecture
which lasted more than three
hours was mainly
to explain the
celebration of the Holy Mass
(Raze) according to the
Church of the East liturgy in
both its tendencies practiced
today by our people. The
following topics
were elaborated on such as:
* The
ceremonial movement.
* The
importance of the cross.
* The
positioning of the cross at
the altar.
* The
meaning and the relevance of
the veil.
*
Offering of the body & blood
of Christ.
Present
also at the lecture was
H.G. Mar Bawai Soro, Fr. Kamal
Bidawid, Fr. Youshia Sana, Fr.
Michael Barota and Fr. Edward
Bakus.
After the
lecture the Ladies Auxiliary of
St. Thomas Church served all
the participants with a
wonderful and flavorful lunch. Then
both bishops with a group of
priests, deacons and
parishioners visited the newly
purchased
St. Matthew church building in
Ceres, which shall soon
be consecrated.
On Sunday
April 6th, Mar Sarhad visited
San Jose where
he celebrated Mass at
St. Marys Assyrian
Chaldean Catholic Church.
