The Seminary of Mar Abba
the Great Dedication Ceremony
On July 25, 2008,
the day of Mar Sarhad Yawsip Jammo's sixth anniversary
of his installation as Bishop of St. Peter the Apostle
Catholic Diocese for Chaldeans and Assyrians, Mar Abba
the Great Seminary was officially opened. To commemorate
this joyous occasion, there was an intimate gathering at
the seminary where the Bishop blessed and dedicated the
house. Below you will find the program with the prayers
that were used during the ceremony along with pictures
from the event.

Blessing of Water:
O
Holy One who hallowed all seas and rivers, ponds,
springs and founts of water by his baptism, we implore
you: hallow these waters by your holiness, make our
mouths springs of your hallowings and our tongues
perfect vessels of your glorious Trinity, at all times,
O Lord of all, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, forever.
Blessing of Incense:
O
Lord, your holy Body was embalmed on the day of your
entombment with the myrrh and the scented oil of
Nicodemus. We your adorers also perfume your entombed
Body as embalmment. May this incense be blessed by your
grace and hallowed, fulfill this symbol and bring about
the atonement of our sins and debts, that they may
become a scent pleasing to you, to your Father and to
the Holy Spirit, amen.
Placing of Incensing:
O
Christ, who accepted the blood of the martyrs on the day
of their deaths: accept this incense from my feeble
hands in the grace of your mercy, amen.

Final Blessing:
May this house of discipleship be blessed by the
Trinity, by whom the righteous faithful and the fathers
of old were blessed, and may it remain blessed, now and
forever. Protect, O Lord, those who live in it from all
perils and distresses, all temptations and attacks of
the evil one. May it overflow with blessings like the
house of Abraham, increase and abound in benefits like
the house of Job the just, and abound in graces and
virtues like the house of Zebedee. May it be upheld at
all times through the prayers of the holy virgin Mary,
and blessed in the Name of the glorious Trinity, now and
forever.
