Notes for the Fifth Sunday of the Apostles  07/01/2012

 

First Notes: To be read after Rite

Let us pray and plead to God, the Lord, for all the children of the church, especially the Sick And the Neediest. For Peace in Iraq and throughout the world, and for the Perpetual Intentions of our beloved deceased as listed:

Sunday Services:

  • Emilda Tomina - Died in San Diego. Burial prayers on Monday at 10:00am at St. Peter Cathedral. After, her family will accept condolences at St. Peter’s Hall from 1:00 - 5:00pm.
     

  • Jason Najer - Died in Japan. We don’t have burial information, but his family will Accept condolences on Thursday at St. Peter’s Hall from 5:00 - 9:00pm.
     

  1. Sammo Alqas Yonan - In memory of 7th from his daughter Leena and Khaleel Tomika at St. Michael’s Hall from 1-4pm.
     

Weddings:

  1. 1. This Saturday at 6:00pm., we will celebrate the wedding of: Rans Shaya and Sarab Safar
     

  2. This Sunday we will celebrate two weddings:
    a- At 6:00pm, Thomas Qenaya and Basma Healu
    b- At 7:00pm, Eleya Maroki and Haboob Maroki
     

  3. Next Saturday we will celebrate two weddings:
    a- At 6:00pm, Thair Daoud and Rand Jadan
    b- At 7:00pm, Marwan Oraha and Rahgdah Korkees
     

  4. Next Sunday we will celebrate two weddings:
    a- At 5:30pm, Jack Qashat and Rita Rabban
    b- At 6:30pm, Nashwan Betrus and Evon Kelo
     

Sunday Notes:

  1. Tuesday is the Feast of St. Thomas the Apostle/ Feast of the Chaldean Patriarch. Also, the Parish Council will have their monthly meeting at 8:30pm.
     

  2. Wednesday is Independence Day. The Cathedral’s office will be closed, but we Will have our daily Mass at 4:30pm as usual.
     

  3. Friday is the Memorial of Mar Abba the Great, the patriarch.
     

  4. The Diocesan Committee declares it has fulfilled its goal as needed in helping the refugee families. The Diocesan Refugee Committee has supported the newcomer refugees since 2008, and spent about half a million dollars in the past four years. All this money was collected from the faithful’s donations. Thus, the committee decided from now forward to use the money to help the children and the youth of refugee families in catechism schools, youth activities, and to educate them religiously and socially. Therefore, the collection of donations will continue outside the church for this purpose.
     

  5. The celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Diocese will take place July 19-23. Celebration will include several seminars and events as follows: First, Youth Convention on July 19th and ends on 22nd for all youth ages 15 to 30 with a premiere of the Diocesan documentary and will end with an outdoor Mass at Cuyamaca College, and the Shamashe ordination of our four seminarians. Second, Play preformed at the Cathedral’s Hall, called Amyrta Myusarta; the cost $10 per ticket and it is open to the public. In addition, there will be a seminar on public issues on Saturday July 21 and another one on Monday July 23 dedicated to Chaldean Language. Finally, there will also be a book to commemorate all the diocese achievements in the last 10 years. Information about these events is located in the front of the cathedral in the form of pamphlet.
