On
Monday 31st of January 2006, a group of Chaldean met with Ambassador
Paul Bremer in San Diego.
“Who is
behind the church explosions?” asked Ambassador Bremer. “I am expecting you to
tell me who is behind them” replied Bishop Sarhad Jammo with a smile.
In his
reply to a question whether the U.S. administration is planning to have a self
governing zone for Christians in Iraq, Mr. Bremer said, “Absolutely not. It’s a
wrong approach to Iraq. I am against this idea. You go in that path and you’re
breaking Iraq.” “The best way to protect Christians in Iraq is to have them
integrated with the rest of Iraqis.” He added.
Ambassador
Bremer emphasized that Iraqi Christians in Iraq and the United States have no
strategy, “Chaldeans and Assyrians got to get together, you are only few, you
don’t have the privilege of disagreement,” he said, “Your community needs a
strategy,” he added.
Palestinian
elections and Hamas were also other issues discussed with Ambassador Bremer.
Finally, the
group had some photos with Ambassador Bremer.
