Ordination of New Deacons at St. Peter Chaldean Cathedral How do you feel about becoming a deacon? On Friday, December 08, 2006, His Grace Mar Sarhad Yawsip Jammo presided, with Assyrian Bishop Mar Bawai Soro in attendance, over the blessing of 29 lectors (10 male and 19 female) and 15 Sub-deacons, and the ordination of three deacons: Deacon Keith Esshaki, Deacon Wisam Jadan, and Deacon Essam Yadago. The ceremony began at 6 PM and was followed immediately by Holy Mass, which concluded around 8:30 and was followed by a dinner in the Church hall. Congratulations to all of those who have made this dedication to the service of the Church! A few of the ordained were asked how they felt about this special event and what did the ordination mean to them. The following are some of their comments:     Keith Esshaki / Deacon:   I’m humbled and honored to be called by the Lord to become a close servant in His ministry. All I can say is that I’m not worthy and I only ask for the Lord’s blessings to show me what He wants me to do and give me strength by the prayers of His most holy mother. I’m dedicated to be the Lord’s servant in His work of bringing us all into the fullness of grace in the Father. During the ordination ceremony on Dec. 8th and for many days afterwards I really felt the presence of the Holy Spirit. I experienced an exhilarating feeling that I have never experienced before especially with the generous care that His Excellency Bishop Sarhad Jammo gave us and the magnificent ordination ceremony. We are encouraged and strengthened by Bishop Sarhad’s zeal for the Lord. Being a deacon makes me part of the clergy and I’m most honored to be a brother to and work so closely with Bishop Sarhad and Fathers Michael, Sabri, Felix, Andrew, and Paulos. Our Chaldean liturgy is the most authentic reflection of what the Lord Jesus intended for the way we worship•     Stephen Nissou / Lector:   As a young kid I felt it was my vocation to teach as a Catechism teacher. Through selfless efforts of volunteering at the parish I felt like there was more I could do to be closer to the Lord. I feel this ordination was a call from God to my commitment and desire to become a Lector and serve at the church Masses to witness the miracle of the Eucharist. At the moment of my ordination I felt like I was turning myself to God and I felt peace in my heart. Through prayer and the encouraging people around me, I hope to reach out in different ways to our community •   Clint Gorou / Lector: It means opportunity. An opportunity to become closer to God, an opportunity to enjoy an activity with my dad, and an opportunity to show a change to my family. I believe this is my calling,.. . .and it is an honor. It also means chance, a chance to work for God. I've lost a lot but from this I hope to gain more. This is my opportunity to become closer to God, my opportunity to learn•     Lauren Naoum / Lector:  Becoming a Lector was a great honor for me. I believe choosing to become a Lector was the next step in my spiritual journey with Christ and a means of bringing me closer to the Church. The classes I had to take were difficult and time-consuming, yet now that I look back they were all worth it. Being able to effectively proclaim the Word of God and serve others within the Church community is truly a fulfilling experience•   Kusay Arabo/ Lector and Sub-deacon: I am honored and humbled on being ordained a Sub-deacon and the Holy Spirit has inspired me. Being a Sub-deacon means I will have the opportunity to serve in the Mass, help with instruction of Catechism, and be able to serve the Church and the community of believers.  I will also be able to lead in prayers, continue to grow in knowledge about the Faith, and serve the Church in any of its needs.  I am grateful for receiving another of God’s endless blessings•

رسامة الشمامسة في سان دييگو   ترأس سيادة المطران مار سرهد يوسپ جمو مطران أبرشية مار بطرس الرسول للكلدان والاثوريين الكاثوليك لغرب اميركا رسامة 47 من الشمامسة القارئين ، والشماسات القارئات والرسائليين والانجيليين في كاتدرائية مار بطرس للكلدان. بدأت الرسامة تمام الساعة 6:00 عصر يوم الجمعة 08 كانون الاول 2006، الذي يصادف فيه عيد العذراء المحبول بها بلا دنس اصلي، اعقبها الاحتفال بالقداس الالهي. اغلبية المرتسمين كانوا من مدينة سان دييگو عدا اثنين منهما قدما من لاس فيغاس.   قمنا بتوجيه بعض الاسئلة الى المرتسمين والمرتسمات عن شعورهم بهذا الحدث الذي يحتفل به لأول مرّة في أبرشيتنا وماذا يعني بالنسبة لهم وعمّا أختلج في قلوبهم من عواطف، ودار في مخيلتهم من افكار فكانت اجابتهم كالتالي:   باسمة گورو: انا فخورة جداً بهذه الرسامة لكونها شجعتني اكثر للمشاركة في الخدمة الكنسية وبذل ما استطيع لخدمة الآخرين والتقرب الى اللـه اكثر الذي هو هدفنا في هذه الدنيا لننال بها الحياة الابدية. وللرسامة معناها الكبيرعندي التي هي نعمه وبركة الرب علي. وشعرت يوم الرسامة ان الملائكة والقديسين كانوا حاضرين حولنا ويباركوننا لزيادة ايماننا وتثبيتنا في المسيح خالقنا.   ديانا دانيال: انه لشرف عظيم لأمتنا الكلدانية في نيل بركة الرسامة القارئية، وأننا لمحظوظات لنكون من أوائل النساء بحمل هذا الوسام العظيم في ابرشيتنا. واذا كانت الرسامة تدل على شيء، فهي تدل على ان كنيستنا والمسؤلين فيها يعملون عملاً شاقاً وعظيماً لخدمتنا. هذه نعمة كبيرة من الرب يسوع يجب أن نصونها ونحافظ عليها. واني شاكرة الرب الذي منحني أياها ولجميع الاخوة الذين شاركوا معي، كذلك أشكر كل الذين ساهموا في بذل الجهود الكبيرة من اجل إنجاح هذا العمل المقدس وبالخصوص سيادة المطران "مار سرهد جمو" والقس "ميخائيل بزي" لأنهما بذلا جهوداً كبيرة في تعليم هذه الدروس وللفرص التي يمنحانها للجماعة وانهما بهذا العمل يشجعان الكثير من الناس لينضموا الى هذه الرسامة.  فنحن أعضاء هذه الكاتدرائية نعمل بعضنا مع البعض ومع الهيئة الكنسية (الكهنة والمطران) لخدمة الرب يسوع وخدمة مذبحه المقدس.    أناهيد اورم: شعوري بالحصول على بركة الرسامة القارئية هو فرح عظيم جداً لاني لست اهلاً لاخدم خالقي ومخلصي يسوع المسيح الذي فدى نفسه ودمه على الصليب حباً لي. معناه لي مهم جداً فهو بركة لي ولعائلتي وأنا فخورة جداً بهذه الرسامة. اطلب من الرب يسوع ان يعطيني الصحة والشجاعة لأودي هذا الواجب المقدس وأكون قريبة من الذبيحة الالهية. ان كان اللـه قد اختارني لهذا العمل فانا خادمة له في اي وقت كان.    رعد شماس: عندما افـُتتحت الدورة لرسامة الشمامسة شعرتُ شعوراً غريباً جداً لاني كنت أعرف بنفسي اني كفوء في هذا الحقل وهو حقل واسع جداً واتمنى ان اُكمل واجباتي تجاه اللـه وكنيسته. واريد ان اُزيد ايضاً ان واجباتي لن تنتهي هنا بل اني حاضر وانتظر عندما يعلن حبرنا عن دورة اخرى لاني متشوق حتى اتعلم واتعمق باللاهوت والفلسفة حتى اكبر بالروح لاني تعلمت كثيراً في هذه الدورة والشكر الجزيل لسيادة المطران والاباء جميعاً.      >>>><<<<<<   الحاصلات على بركة الرسامة القارئية: كاتدرائية مار بطرس : مفيدة برنو، ديانا دانيال، مريم اسحق، كاترينا شوريس گورو، خيرية قونجا، نوال ماتيكا، لورين نعوم، سعاد نعوم، اناهيد اورم، سهام پوتا، مريم ربان، ساندي ربان، نجيبة سيسي، ماري شمم، نوال شوريز. كنيسة مار ميخا: باسمة گورو، نجيبة حلاق، جميلة بقال ميرم، هيفاء سلمو.   الحاصلون على بركة الرسامة القارئية: كاتدرائية مار بطرس: مارك عربو، جاك بزي، جوزف بريخو، كلنت گورو، ستيفن جعدان، ستيفن نيسو، نجاح سالم، نجاح يلدو.   كنيسة مار ميخا: سمير گورو، خليل دابش. الحاصلون على بركة الرسامتين القارئية والرسائلية: كاتدرائية مار بطرس: قصي عربو، ايليا گورگيس، گورگيس گورگيس، وعد جميل، لويس عتيق، عزيز رزوقي، حازم شبلاّ. كنيسة مار ميخا: رعد شماس.   ارسالية القديسة بربارة: بسام ابونا.   الحاصلون على بركة الرسامة الرسائلية: كاتدرائية مار بطرس: فؤاد حنا، حبيب ابراهيم.   كنيسة مار ميخا: سلام بطي، ماهر حنا، غازي مقو.   ارسالية القديسة بربارة: ثامر ابونا. الحاصلون على الرسامة الانجيلية: كاتدرائية مار بطرس: غيث أسحاقي، وسام جعدان .   كنيسة مار ميخا: عصام يدگو.     <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>     Meetings  and  Celebrations Building Bridges    From December 5th -7th, 2006, His Excellency Mar Sarhad Yawsip Jammo, Bishop of Saint Peter the Apostle Diocese for Chaldeans and Assyrians in Western United States, with 9 Chaldean clergy met with His Grace Mar Bawai Soro, Assyrian Bishop of Diocese of Western California, with 6 Assyrian clergy to discuss church unity on this special historic quarterly Diocesan meeting.   Motivated by the love of Christ and their Church of the East Tradition, both Bishops and participant priests thank the Lord for granting them this fraternal and historic opportunity, despite other surrounding difficulties, to come together in prayer and mutual respect in the context of their common ecclesial tradition.  Plans to increase collaboration and cooperation between the faithful and clergy of both churches were presented and discussed. The purpose of such plans is to achieve church unity between all branches of the Church of the East.         CHRISTMAS PROGRAM @  ST. PETER CHALDEAN CATHOLIC CATHEDRAL   On Saturday, December 16 2006, over 500 Catechism students, kindergarten through 8th grade, gathered at St. Peter Chaldean Cathedral to attend the Christmas program and activities that were prepared for them by many volunteers. The first hour, all gathered inside the church for prayers led by Fr. Michael Bazzi, while Fr. Felix Shabi and Fr. Andrew Younan both attended confessions. Readings from the Bible were done by some Catechism teachers. The English Choir joined the 5th graders in performing Christmas hymns and music. The second hour was at the Church Hall, where all the students sat in groups according to their grades so they could participate in crafts and activities special for Christmas. Then lunch was served: hot pizza, breadsticks, cookies and fruit drinks. At the end, it was Christmas music; everybody jumped to the stage to dance and cheer with their friends. It was a joyful day full of faith and fun for all, especially for the volunteers who were helping around, without feeling tired, seeing all these smiles on the children’s faces and happiness surrounding them in welcoming the greatest event of the year, the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.         New Altar Consecrated at St. Paul Parish       On the morning of Sunday, December 17, 2006, Bishop Sarhad Yawsip Jammo consecrated the new altar at St. Paul Assyrian Chaldean Church in North Hollywood, CA and celebrated Mass for the community there. The church building was remodeled to make it more fit in accord with the traditions of the Chaldean Church, especially with the Reformed Chaldean Mass, by specifying a place for shamashe and choir, and by adding a veil for the sanctuary. After Mass there was a luncheon for the community, where the people gathered to express their joy.  Donors for the project were publicly thanked and given plaques.             Christmas Play at St. Paul Parish <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>   نشـاطات واعلانـات   كنيسة مار اوراها الكلدانية في اريزونا   بمناسبة حلول اعياد الميلاد المجيد قامت كنيسة مار اوراها نهار 23 كانون الاول 2006 بتوزيع الهدايا على اطفال التعليم المسيحي، وحضر الحفل اطفال كثيرون من مختلف الاعمار. غمرهم فرح كبير حيث قام بتوزيع الهدايا فرد مثـّل شخصية بابا نوئيل. أحاط به الاولاد والتقطت الصور التذكارية بالمناسبة. وفي ليلة الميلاد المجيد اقامت الكنيسة قداساً احتفالياً كبيراً في كنيسة القربان المقدس Blessed Sacrament الكاثوليكية حضره اكثر من 1300 شخص وخلال القداس أدى بعض الاطفال تمثيلية الميلاد باللغة الكلدانية (السورث) نالت اعجاب الجميع على لغتها الصافية وأدائها الرائع. وفي ليلة رأس السنة احيا المطرب المحبوب والمشهور جنان ساوا والمطرب رامي العيسى حفلاً كبيراً حضره جمع غفير لم يسبق له مثيل ادخلا البهجة في قلوب الحاضرين وبعد منتصف الليل جرى سحب القرعة للجائزة الاولى (سيارة موديل 2007) وكان الرقم الفائز هو 602 فالف مبروك للفائز نتمنى للجميع حظاً سعيداً في السنة الجديدة، الرب يباركها على الجميع بالخير والنعم بشفاعة امنا العذراء مريم، كل عام وانتم بالف خير.                                                                                                                                   الأب بولس خزيران الراهب                                                                        <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>   شـؤون الجاليـة   قامت مسؤولات في الجمعية الكلدانية والشرق اوسطية للخدمات الأجتماعية في سان دييگو بزيارة سجن النساء (كاسا سان وان) "سجن القديس جون" وحملن هدايا متنوعة لأطفال السجون الذين كان عددهم اكثر من 27 طفلاً و13 امرأة. فرحت مديرة السجن جداً بالهدايا وقالت (ميشيل دون) شاكرة "أن هذه الهدايا لا توزع فقط لأطفال الكلدان بل ستوزع على أطفال من جميع انحاء العالم المقيمين في السجن- وكانت فرحتهم شديدة لرؤية الحلويات واللعب وبدأت الدموع تنهمر من عيون موظفي السجن. واستمرت مديرة السجن بالقول، أنهم يطلبون من الجمعية توفير تدريب للموظفين عن عادات وتقاليد الكلدان وعن كيفية تقديم العلاج النفسي وعلاج أثار الأضطهاد على السجناء. " وعقدن مقابلة مع مدير دائرة الهجرة CCA قامت المسؤولات بزيارة السجن الرئيسي " " داخل للسجن وكان المديرفرحاً بالمقابلة واظهر احتياج موظفيه للتدريب على عاداتICE”  وتقاليد الجالية الكلدانية وعلى كيفية علاج وصمات الحروب على السجناء وكذلك يحتاج السجن الى متطوعين لتدريس دروس روحية للكلدان والمتكلمين باللغة العربية. وأستجابة لطلب السجينات اللواتي راسلن الكنيسة طالباتٍ زيارة كاهن لأقامة قداس العيد لهن، قام سيادة المطران مار سرهد يوسپ جمو مع الدكتور نوري بركة بزيارة نفس السجن وبارك السجينات، وقد بيّن قسيس السجن لسيادة المطران احتياجه الى المرشدين الروحيين الكلدان لتعليم السجناء من ابناء جاليتنا والمتكلمين باللغة العربية. لذلك يرجى ممن لهم القابلية على توفير هذه الخدمة الأنسانية، الاتصال بالجمعية، على الرقم (ابتسام 1590 - 442 (619)) حتى توفر لهم الخطوات اللازمة لخدمة الجالية والسجناء.   A NEW YEAR… A NEW YOU
