Tariq Aziz, a deputy prime minister of Iraq under the
regime of Saddam Hussein, has suffered from a life-threatening blockage in an
artery in his brain.
His lawyer, Badie Arif Ezzat, told the newspaper, “Al-Hayat
Arab” that Aziz is in great pain and may not have long to live.
Ezzat did not mention when Aziz, 69 years old, was struck
by illness.
Aziz is in custody and is facing charges for the murders
allegedly committed during the regime of Saddam Hussein. He claims he is
innocent.
