On February 18, 2006
representatives from the California Highway Patrol and the San Diego
Sheriff’s Department spoke to about 500 students from our Saturday
“Catechism School” about safety.
Sgt. Marco Garmo (a Chaldean police officer)
and Crime Prevention Specialist Darlene Duncan conducted a crime prevention
presentation for about 300 students from grades 3rd through 8th. The
presentation outlined dangers in the community as well as growing concern of
chat rooms and those who prey on our children through the internet.
Investigator Claude Jubran and Officer Brad
Pennings conducted a safety presentation for about 200 students from
Preschool to 2nd grade. The presentation outlined traffic safety,
the Amber Alert system, and other safety concerns.
The young children had their questions
answered, got to take a close look at a highway patrol car, and received
information and gifts from the California Highway Patrol representatives.
St. Peter Chaldean Cathedral is very
thankful and appreciative of the time that these busy individuals have taken
to inform our young children about the importance of safety. We thank them
and pray that God helps and protects them in their daily duties.
