On Wednesday November 22, 2006, the day before
Thanksgiving, members of the “knights of Columbus” (Mar Toma
Council), at St. Peter’s Chaldean Catholic Cathedral in El
Cajon, CA, organized a food distribution day to help families in
need.
Nearly 300 turkeys were distributed to the
families who lined up to receive the donated items, also other
baking supplies such as cooking oil and rice were given.
The turkeys and other food supplies were donated
by the generous people of our Chaldean community. Many families
donated food, other donated money, and some donations came from
Chaldean businesses .
Members of the “Ladies of Hope” also had a fund
raiser bake sale on Sunday November19, 2006 to raise money
towards buying food supplies for the families in need for
Thanksgiving.
